Crunchie

Purpose: A utility to crunch large dvr-ms files down to smaller DivX AVI files.

Author's Notes: Crunchie has a Configurator program to allow you to modify and save your configuration. Crunchie runs in a DOS winow and is designed to run nightly for dvr-ms to avi conversion.

Crunchie works by first extracting the MPEG stream from within the dvr-ms file. It then converts this MPEG file to DivX. More information is available in this thread on the Australian XP Media Centre Community site.

Crunchie has the following options:

Create Subfolders - Creates output videos in subfolders based on the name of the recorded program. For instance, all of your Star Trek programs end up in the Star Trek folder.
Rename Files - Renames converted files to <Showname>(yyyymmdd).avi, allowing easy sorting by air date.
Remove Source Files - Removes dvr-ms files after conversion.
Remove Temp MPEG Files - Removes temporary mpeg files after conversion.
Force 4:3 Aspect - Forces aspect ratio to 4:3. Crunchie can force this ratio for analog video files. Not required for digital video files.
Exclude - Allows you to specify multiple text strings, separated by a comma. Any dvr-ms file with this string in the title will not be converted.
